José Vasconcelos, a native of the Vinho Verde region, developed a strong connection to viticulture from an early age, influenced by his family’s background.

He graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2013 and has since gained experience across several of Portugal’s key wine regions, including Vinho Verde, Bairrada, Douro, Dão, and, more recently, the Algarve. In 2024, he joined Fladgate Wines as the resident viticulturist, bringing his expertise and passion to this new role.

Deeply inspired by nature, he believes that the uniqueness of each terroir and the complexity it imparts to wine are what make viticulture truly captivating.
