The 14 hectares of the property spread across the fabulous clay-limestone soils that dominate the landscape of this estate. The entire vineyard is dry farmed, meaning no irrigation is used. It is here that, with the Merlot grape complemented by Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon using exclusive gravity-fed vinification, we produce a charismatic red wine, which is only released in exclusive years and in small quantities. Its resemblance to the wines of the right bank of Bordeaux is very evident.
LOCATION: S. Lourenço do Bairro, Bairrada, Portugal (DOC Bairrada)
TERROIR: Atlantic influenced climate, protected by the Caramulo and Bussaco Hills. Vineyards planted at high density (up to 6172 plants per hectare) on gentle hills of clay-limestone soils. Completely dry farmed.
VARIETALS: Touriga Nacional, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
SERVING TEMP: Serve between 16-18 Cº. Decant 15 minutes before service.
STORAGE: In a cool dry place (12 a 14 Cº) away from direct sunlight and without big fluctuations in temperature.
AGEING ABILITY: It is ready to drink now, but will positively evolve until 2033-37.
Ruby with an opaque centre. A pronounced aroma of ripe black fruit, like blackberry and blackcurrant, with a hint of graphite. Slight toast and spices from the wood. Full-bodied, with marked tannins, but underneath the fruit. Acidity that makes the wine pleasant and balances it throughout the tasting. Very long, smooth and silky finish.
