DOURO

The Douro region, one of Portugal’s most emblematic, is recognised worldwide for its stunning scenery and for producing wines of unparalleled quality. As the oldest demarcated region in the world, the Douro combines tradition and innovation to create wines that reflect its unique essence.

With its schist soils, steep slopes and extreme climate, the Douro provides ideal conditions for growing indigenous grape varieties that give rise to wines with great personality and structure. The region’s heroic viticulture, carried out on terraces carved into the landscape over the centuries, guarantees not only the preservation of the terroir, but also the production of wines with a distinct character.

The Douro is divided into three distinct sub-regions: Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo e Douro Superior.

The Baixo Corgo, closer to the coast, has a milder climate and wines with a fresh, fruity profile.

Cima Corgo, considered the heart of the region, is known for producing more structured and elegant wines and is home to some of the Douro’s most iconic vineyards.

The Douro Superior, the easternmost sub-region with the most extreme climate, stands out for producing intense and concentrated wines, the result of high temperatures and more arid soils.

Silica wines are a celebration of the contemporary Douro. With a minimalist approach and oenology focused on the purity of the fruit, the Silica brand expresses the elegance and authenticity of the region.

Produced from selected vineyards, these wines stand out for their freshness, balance and the vibrant expression of the Douro grape varieties.

Silica Red reveals intense notes of red fruit and spices, with silky tannins and a long, enveloping finish. Silica White surprises with its minerality, refreshing acidity and citrus flavours, reflecting the influence of the region’s schist soils and microclimate.
