FRANCISCO TOVAR
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Francisco Tovar holds a degree in Food Engineering from the Catholic University of Porto. His career in the wine industry began in 1990 with his first harvest in the Douro Valley, working on the production of Vértice sparkling wine.
Driven by a passion for winemaking, Francisco gained valuable international experience in some of the world’s most renowned wine regions, participating in harvests at Schramsberg in Napa Valley, California, and Taylor Wines in Clare Valley, Australia.
In 1993, Francisco transitioned to the Port wine sector, where he held key positions at several prestigious companies. His extensive industry experience and profound knowledge of Port wine have been pivotal to his successful career.
Since 2008, Francisco has been an integral part of The Fladgate Partnership, where he currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Still and Sparkling Wine division. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring the seamless management of the business.
