Description
Deep ruby. Pronounced aroma of wild black fruit, with dried shrub, pencil shavings and subtle spices. Medium to full-bodied, with vibrant acidity and a long lasting mineral finish that provides freshness.
Taking advantage of the fabulous clay-limestone soils of our properties in Bairrada and using the same philosophy used in our best wines, namely dry farmed vineyards and gravity winemaking, it is possible to obtain a wine that is faithful to the place, authentic, genuine. In fact, a wine that reflects its origin more than its grape varieties, giving value to our quality motto: showing the best that Portugal can offer.
LOCATION: S. Lourenço do Bairro, Bairrada, Portugal
TERROIR: Atlantic influenced climate, protected by the Caramulo and Bussaco mountain ranges. Vineyards planted at high density (up to 6172 plants per hectare) on gentle hills of clay-limestone soils. Completely dry farmed.
GRAPE VARIETALS: Touriga Nacional, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon
VINIFICATION: Manual harvest. Sorting table at the entrance of the winery, followed by destemming and crushing. Resulting juice transferred to stainless steel tanks with temperature control for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Maceration lasts for about 20 days, applying the delestage technique (rack and return). Part of the wine is then aged for 24 months in used 225-liter French oak barrels. Further aging for 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
SERVING TEMP: Between 16-18Cº.
STORAGE: In a cool dry place (12 a 14 Cº) away from direct sunlight and without big fluctuations in temperature.
AGEING ABILITY: It is ready to drink now, but it will positively evolve for up to 10 years after the harvest.
