Silica "Blanc de Noir" Super Reserva Bruto

Silica “Blanc de Noir” Super Reserva Bruto

The base wine of this sparkling wine comes from the fabulous clay-limestone soils that dominate the finest areas of Bairrada. All the vineyards are dry-farmed and planted in high density, producing smaller grapes with a higher skin-to-juice ratio. The result is an intensification of flavor and acidic structure, essential for sparkling wines that undergo extended aging before disgorgement. This new Sílica Blanc de Noir swaps the Baga variety for the noble Pinot Noir, the queen of red grapes best suited for sparkling wine production. The color has taken on a more “coppery” hue, and the flavor has become more pronounced, while always vibrantly mineral, a hallmark of the brand.

LOCATION: Bairrada, Portugal

TERROIR: Atlantic influenced climate, protected by the Caramulo and Bussaco Hills. Vineyards planted at high density (up to 6172 plants per hectare) on gentle hills of clay-limestone soils. Completely dry farmed.

VARIETALS: Pinot Noir

SERVING TEMP: Serve between 6-7 Cº.

STORAGE: In a cool dry place (12 a 14 Cº) away from direct sunlight and without big fluctuations in temperature.

AGEING ABILITY: The wine is perfect to drink now but can be kept for up to 3-5 years after released in the market.

Description

With a fine, persistent mousse, it presents a coppery rosé color. Aromas of bergamot and fresh quince jelly emerge, with subtle autolytic notes (biscuit/brioche). On the palate, the mousse is extremely delicate, with a creamy and refreshing bubble that adds to a mineral sensation that lingers throughout the tasting. There is not a hint of bitterness. An excellent sparkling wine, perfect as an aperitif or to accompany a meal.
